National Sports Awards - The objective of the National Awards to Volunteers in Irish Sports is to honour eight individuals who are representative of the body of volunteers who contribute their time and effort, through the structure of sports clubs and groups, to sport in Ireland.

Sport benefits enormously from the contribution of individual volunteers and the first programme of National Awards to Volunteers in Sport was successfully held last year. The Awards recognise and encourage the work of volunteers and reach out to potential new volunteers. A new scheme will be advertised in September 2008 with a view to presentation of awards in February 2009.
