In a day and age when annecdotal stories and the media in general tell us that no one wants to volunteer anymore, the Volunteer Centre in South Dublin County is recording record statistics in the numbers of those registering to volunteer.

Last year the Volunteer Centre recruited 308 new volunteers with the service.  In 2006, as of the 1st October, 320 new volunteers have registered with the centre.  The summer months have been particularly busy for the centre with the opening of the new centre in Clondalkin.


Of those 320 registering, 167 have NEVER volunteered before so a whole new generation of volunteers is being born.  Another interesting statistic is that 103 of the 308 volunteers registering with us are aged 25 and under - who says young people don't want to volunteer?
