Focus on Tallaght Hospital

Did you know however that Tallaght Hospital runs a fantastic volunteer program. Volunteers are involved in many aspects of the Hospital's work including
• in pastoral care,
• in the day centre for the elderly,
• in the children's unit,
• operating a help desk
• in the volunteer coffee shop
• volunteer artists
• volunteer library service

Perhaps the shining light in all this is the volunteer coffee shop where the general public can interact with the hospital volunteers on a daily basis. Volunteers run a friendly, professional and yet inexpensive coffee shop which is open to patients and public alike from Monday to Saturday.

Proceeds from the volunteer coffee shop are directed back into projects in the hospital that add to the patient experience. String quartets and bands are often to be viewed entertaining patients and public alike in the hospital foyer - all funded by the volunteer coffee shop!

The image here is of volunteers in the hospital volunteer coffee shop wearing their new aprons to promote and celebrate the European Year of Volunteering 2011
