Celebrate Volunteering on 5th December International Volunteer Day
As you know, 2011 celebrated the European Year of Volunteering and we had many events in South Dublin
Volunteer Ireland is delighted to announce that they recently secured funding from the EU as part of the European Year of Volunteering 2011 to develop a framework for a national quality standard for involving volunteers. This
In recent months, the volunteer centre has been approached by several companies looking for once off/time limited volunteering opportunities. We have several corporates on our books who are willing to volunteer for a day (or over a number of days) to carry out specific "hands on" volunteering opportunities. In all cases, the corporates also have a budget to pay for materials necessary to carry out whatever project may be required.
We are looking for community groups to contact us if they have a project in mind that could be carried over a day/number of days that would benefit your group or your community.
In the past corporates have carried out such projects as:
Painting premises
Cleaning Gardens/painting fences
Teaching computer classes including teaching older people how to use mobile phones and email
General clean-ups
Paint over of Grafitti in a local area
Mural design
Redecorating community centres
Taking day centre residents/youth groups on outings
Helping out with meals on wheels
Cleaning/redecorating of school grounds
If you have something that "needs doing", why not contact the volunteer centre and we will be happy to put you in touch with a company who may be able to help you (and will cover the costs as well!).
